Travel Prize (Part Two: Old Town, Corfu) The second trip made in response to the travel prize will be made during Corfu's peak season, August. Corfu is host to one of the most curious old towns that I have ever had the pleasure of walking within. It holds a great feeling of nostalgia as it has been a place for family summer holidays and afternoons of gyros and Mythos. The peach coloured church rests to the right of the main street and the pigeons take refuge in the shade that the green square umbrellas create. Saving them and me from the relentless sun's gaze. 30th APR- 4th MAY 2019
Travel Prize (Part One: Alhambra Palace, Granada, Spain) In September 2018, I was fortunate enough to win a travel prize. Awarded on a written application with examples of my previous/current work, I was selected to follow through on my proposed ideas. Visiting three locations within 2019, Alhambra Palace, Granada, Spain, Messina in Sicily and Old Town, Corfu, I intend to follow the footsteps of strangers that were introduced to me through found Hi8 video tapes on eBay. Retracing their 'OUR HOLIDAY' videos that they created, I will be creating work in response to the spaces that I inhabit (both from the past and the present). Taking residence in strangers memories. The first trip will be made at the end of April, beginning of May this year. Alhambra Palace, home to stunning architecture and history, the space will ensure time to document and reflect on cultural references, light, line and attention to detail. FEB/MAR 2019
